RE: MH Loan Assumption Service

If the potential buyer is cash strapped they shouldn't be buying a big ticket item like a motor home. A lot of people are learning a painful lesson right now about easy credit and buying more than they can afford.
right about there...
And you interpret that to mean pay cash or don't buy? As I wrote it I have no problem also saying you totally twisted my post in your mind and couldn't be more wrong.
But just out of curiosity, do you advocate cash strapped individuals purchasing big ticket items?
Step by step, so you understand my logic:
Anytime a buyer would consider assuming a loan for more than a motor home's actual value there is something wrong, especially in today's market. I think is is safe to say they were turned down for conventional financing. But they still "need" a motor home so badly they are willing to enter into this type of unconventional agreement. One of the reasons we as a country are in trouble is because we don't recognize the difference between 'want' and 'need'.
Some people don't think about why the bank turned down the loan. They justify their ability to make the payments because they 'need' the motor home so badly and are even willing to pay above market value. Not a financially sound decision, not one I would involve myself in. And that is what you do if you sign on with the company in question.
But you know what is really ironic? I hired in on the assembly line in a truck plant in 1968 and still live in SE Michigan.
And it would be really nice if you would take the time to read and comprehend what is posted, not see 'cash' and assume whatever you want to assume before telling someone to 'zip it'. You were absolutely off the mark on this one.

RE: Vinyl Dashboard Material Unglued!

3M
This is what I used . I originally got it to use for the vinyl on a panel that covers the heater. Since then I've used it on the material lining the compartments that started to pull loose, the safety strip on the step that was lifting, insulation that was coming loose. Once it fumes out for a few minutes it sticks, nothing I have used it on came loose again.
I got it at Home Depot in the paint department. Not cheap, but I have used it a lot and still have quite a bit left.

RE: MH Loan Assumption Service

WHY does this always have to turn into a "YOu shouldn't have been buying a big ticket item unless you pay cash" post?
What post said that? I reread all of them.
I think you need to take a chill pill, slow down and read what is written, not what you think is written.

RE: Leave in Gear at Stops -or Neutral

A study done many years ago suggested that motors on automatics lasted longer than the exact same motor on a stick shift because of reduced vibration at red lights caused by leaving it in drive.
Probably funded by the mechanic that said no fluid circulates in neutral.
If an engine is so poorly balanced the trans is needed to dampen vibration at stops it's not going to have much of a life expectancy. I sure wouldn't want to be near it if it makes it to 5000 rpm.

RE: Leave in Gear at Stops -or Neutral

The front pump in the transmission is driven by the shell of the converter so there is fluid being pumped through the transmission all the time the engine is running.
And if it wasn't how would there be pressure to put it in gear? The mechanic who said no fluids circulate in neutral doesn't know a lot.
If you are in gear and stopped there is power absorbed by the trans. But if you put it in neutral the engine rpm increases and the cylinders have to fill more times a minute. I would put it in neutral for convenience, not gas savings.

RE: Cube TV

Maybe if you provided a link? Over 7 million hits on Google, the one that looked the most likely is out of the UK, so that's not going to work.

I certainly wouldn't want to turn over my mh to someone who still hadn't learned this lesson and still be on the hook with the lender for the payments. IMHO you might as well park it on Main Street with a big FREE sign in the front window and keys in the ignition. In the long run that would be less problem than wondering where the payment, and motor home, is.

RE: 1990 Bounder problems

Fuel pump relay- mine is at the left front (inside) of the dog house by the ac compressor. The fan relay is also there.

RE: Vinyl Dashboard Material Unglued!

I've used 3M spray contact adhesive. It does have to sit open a few minutes before clamping. If you can't clamp it weight serves the same purpose.

I got windows for a 74 Argosy, they must have a decent selection if they had them.

RE: Brake pads/rotor resurface.

12,000 miles since I did mine, just got done packing bearings and greasing the caliper slides. No noticeable wear on the pads.
You don't have to turn the rotors if the surfaces are good.

RE: Headlight problems

If the dimmer is on the column it might even be an adjustment. Some switches are mounted lower on the column near the ignition switch and are actuated be a small rod. If the screws are loose the switch can move.

RE: General advice on 90 454

Definitely tune it up, change hoses, belts to get a base line on maintenance and prevent future problems. If something goes it will be on a trip and has a way of being a lot bigger problem than just a break down on the way to the store.
At 45 mph and 2400 rpm I take it you were in drive. Get used to down shifting even though it is an automatic. Under those conditions the torque converter on the trans is slipping a lot and creating a lot of heat that can break down the trans fluid. It won't all be dissipated from the cooler and some will end back up in the trans. You won't get up the hill any faster, that is the nature of a larger vehicle and steeper grades, but it will help your engine and trans last a lot longer.

RE: Add on Air Where

The air manifold might be more convenient but there is no reason you can't run a line off a surge tank. If there is a problem because of your installation or the parts used it won't matter where it is, the system will loose air.

RE: Just cant' seem to figure it out, any help would be great

Next time you have the battery hooked up try pulling up/back on the brake pedal and see if the brake lights go out. Maybe the switch is out of adjustment.

RE: Motor Homes with numbers printed on the end caps?

I think some of them are the number of builds coded by manufacturer.
Finally a correct answer.
I doubt it. When was the last time you saw the build number on the exterior of any vehicle, especially that large and prominent. Build/line up numbers are only important while the vehicle is on the assembly line, after that everything is tracked by VIN.

It will have a diagnostic plug but it is not OBDII, that is a gas engine interface.

RE: workhorse fan clutch cross reference

You would be better off asking for an 8.1 Chevy fan clutch, that is who made the engine. Workhorse won't mean anything to most parts people.
